Deacons

Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well.1 Timothy 3:8-12

Tim Gwyn

Tim grew up in L.A. (that's Lower Asheboro for those who are not from around here). He was saved at a New Year's Eve service on January 1st, 1992, and by the grace of God was delivered from drugs and alcohol addiction. He refers to those years as the "Lost" Episodes. Now his desire is to be a strong family leader and discipler of the brethren. His immediate ministry is with his family first, and in the workplace to anyone who has ears to listen. He has been married to Melody for 17 years and they have four children: Micah, Bailey, Titus, and Amos. Tim works as a Department Manager at Wal-Mart in Asheboro.

Gentry Smith

Gentry is an Asheboro native. He credits his wife Angel for influencing him to see his need for Christ. "I met a wonderful young lady when I was 18 and fell in love with her. Unfortunately, I was not able to hold on to her and we parted. I still remember her telling me maybe our paths will cross again someday. For the next few years I did my own thing and just kept getting deeper in sin. Finally one day I was able to once again come across my true love and started attending church with her. On April 29th, 1992, I gave my heart to the Lord and my life has never been the same since." Gentry has served the local church in the following capacities: Commander of an AWANA program, two times as a Baptist Men Director, adult and child Sunday School Teacher. Gentry adds, "It is an honor to be able to continue serving Jesus at Cornerstone Bible Church." Gentry has worked in law enforcement for 19 years. He is currently a detective in the Criminal Investigations Division of the City of Asheboro Police Department, specializing in gang intelligence and activity. Gentry and Angel have been married for fifteen years, and are the parents of Josiah and Daniel.
